  42. UK Universities have joined forces with British Telecom
  43. to bring the European ISDN Event to six locations
  44. within the regions and nations of the United Kingdom.

  46. The event runs from 14th - 16th December 1993.

  51. ISDN, or Integrated Services Digital Network
  52. represents the state of the art in Pan European communications
  53. and supports many new applications like Videophones, high
  54. quality, high speed facsimile transfer and inter computer
  55. communications.
  56. The solution provided by ISDN is relevant to almost all sectors
  57. of the economy from the smallest companies to International
  58. organisations.

  60. Business Solutions for Europe '93.

  63. The European ISDN Event (EURIE '93) is being held simultaneously in
  64. over 70 sites in most European Countries and is being supported
  65. by 22 network operators. The event has the full backing and
  66. support of the Commission of the European Communities.
  67. EURIE is the biggest ISDN event the world has yet seen.

  69. The UK National Event, being titled `Business Solutions for Europe '93'
  70. occurs simultaneously at six locations. The locations are

  72. BT Business Centre in London Docklands, England
  73. BT Business Centre in Birmingham, England
  74. BT Business Centre in Glasgow, Scotland
  75. University of Salford, Manchester, England
  76. University of Ulster, Londonderry, Northern Ireland

  79. Worlds Largest ISDN Videoconference as Opening Ceremony.

  82. EURIE '93 will be opened by Mr Jean-Pierre Jouyet, deputy
  83. head of Cabinet of President Delors accompanied by Mr Michel
  84. Carpentier, Director General of DGXIII of the CEC. The opening
  85. ceremony will take place in Brussels and will be transmitted
  86. by ISDN to a total of 22 centres across Europe. This will be
  87. the world's largest ISDN videoconference.

  89. Santa Claus, Live from Lapland.

  92. As part of Telecom Finland's contributions to EURIE '93, they have
  93. arranged for Santa to be accessible live from Lapland via videophone.
  94. As we all know, Santa's grotto is based in the town of Rovaniemi on
  95. the Arctic Circle in Lapland. He will be talking to his friends from
  96. all over Europe.
